From the 1st of April 2015 the definition of a user changed from a ‘device’ to an ‘individual’ who is authorised to use the solution. So for example if you have two members of staff using one device (perhaps working two different shifts), after the 1st April, each of the individuals would need a licence.

The official definition as set by Royal Mail is below:

  • Was – User: An individual work station or terminal or hand-held or otherwise portable device internal to the End-User.
  • Now  (From 1st April 2015) – User: An individual authorised by an End User to use a Solution

All licences last for one year from the date of purchase

An end user is a customer of Cyclops Software Ltd or Third Party Solutions Providers who wish to use products/services supplied by Cyclops Software Ltd or the Third Party Solutions Provider, which are derived from or modified or enhanced by the data, in each case for such customer’s own internal use only.
